Koi Products & ServicesABC Functioning AnalysisThe ABC Functioning Analysis includes assessment of the client’s academic & cognitive abilities, as well as their behavioral patterns. It is primarily used in conjunction with the services provided by the Academy. However, as an individual tool, it can be utilized in a number of capacities, including individual service plans, biopsychosocials, or general informational purposes. Using the Assessment, we are able to tailor services to meet the needs of the individual client, and also open the lines of communication between the parents, school and service providers. (The Koi Academy has clearance license to use academic and cognitive testing instruments.) Intelligence Quotient Testing (IQ Testing)IQ tests are administered to individuals to measure aptitude and intellectual capacities and provide an estimate of a child's mental abilities. Most IQ tests consist of subtests measuring various qualities, such as language based reasoning, short-term memory, factual knowledge, visual-spatial abilities, abstract reasoning, problem solving, awareness of common social realities, etc. The Koi Academy may administer IQ tests to determine the areas of intelligence in which the child is lacking. IQ tests can identify problem areas in an individual’s learning abilities, allowing the specific problems to be worked on and corrected. This test may be administered in the home or on-site. (Our NJ State Licensed consulting psychologist will administer IQ Tests.) Psychological Evaluation - Neuropsychological ScreeningNeuropsychological screenings are performed in the early phases of diagnostic exploration when suspicions of brain injury or disease are reasonably considered. A neuropsychological screening is a condensed version of a full neuropsychological assessment, looking only at key sensitive areas of function. Even though it is "screening," the examination is definitive, and once a screening points to reasonable probability that a neurological condition exists, a full neuropsychological examination is recommended to attain further diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment planning information. This test may be administered in the home or on-site. (Our NJ State Licensed consulting psychologist will administer N.S.E.) Personal Cognitive Training (PCT)PCT is a one-on-one program that enables the Koi Associate to make cognitive training fun by using game-like software to improve cognitive deficits identified in the comprehensive assessment and training plan. Hands-on training enables the Koi Associate to customize training programs to the specific needs of each client. Because PCT is so individualized and interactive, it can be used with children as young as 4 years old. This program is recommended for individuals who have critical diagnoses, and are in need of intense support. Professional Assisted Learning (PAL)PAL is a home-based version of our cognitive training system, which allows us to create customized training programs to be used by the client in their homes for at least two hours a week. The Koi Associate will schedule weekly meeting with the client in order to track progress, help with any problems, give encouragement, and adjust training plans. This program is recommended for individuals who do not need constant one-on-one supervision, and have a strong in-home support system. ABC ProgramThis program combines the benefits of academic, behavioral and cognitive training to enhance the learning experience of our clients. It is our most comprehensive program: a multi-faceted approach that goes above basic tutoring services to improve academic achievement, reduce the frequency of self-defeating behaviors, increase self-esteem and self-confidence and encourage self-advocacy and assertive interaction. This program is intended for clients who express the need for improvement in two or more of the key areas targeted by The Koi Academy! The Specialized Mentoring ProgramThe Specialized Mentoring Program pairs young adults with older, experienced mentors to provide specific, non-clinical supports. In addition to the standard life skills, mentors work on an array of focus areas, including vocation development, job coaching, college preparation, wellness and wellbeing (including nutrition and physical fitness), among others. While it is the mentor’s role to build a rapport with and advocate on behalf of each child, it is also the mentor’s job to instill self-esteem and self-worth while client’s come into their own identity. Additionally, mentors work with children on self-advocacy skills as well. The Koi Parenting ProgramBased on a proven and heavily researched parenting curriculum, The Koi Parenting Program will work with individuals of all backgrounds in addressing topics that include establishing an emergency contact plan, common child health problems, medicating children, home safety, self and family advocacy, and a host of other topics addressed during this nineteen unit program. This program is unique in that it is simple to understand and is tailored toward family heads with learning disabilities, cognitive delays, yet easily understood by all. At the conclusion of the program, parents have a completed manuel they can refer back to when necessary. © Copyright 2007. Website design and logo design by Logoworks |
